Hey, pals. At Hooch Booch we’re pretty jazzed up on the speakeasy scene. But no secrets here…We wanted to share with you some of our favorite speakeasies and cocktail lounges in our two home states - Minnesota and Colorado.

Because Hooch Booch is inspired by the 1920s - reimagined for modern day 2020s, we like to use a lot of old-time jargon in our communication with you all. This month we’re providing you with a list of some of the phrases we like to use so that you can join in on the convo, too!

In case you missed it, we’ve just added a new flavor to the mix. After a year of our original trio - the Clover Club (raspberry + lemon), Old Fashioned (oak, orange + cherry), and Bee’s Knees (honey + lemon) - it was time to expand our product line…

As of this month we’ve officially expanded beyond Colorado and launched Hooch Booch in a new state - Minnesota! Why the hop, skip and jump all the way up there? It was an easy decision. It’s where our founder, Anna Zesbaugh, grew up and lived before moving to Colorado for undergrad at the University of Denver in 2014. Not only is our founder from Minnesota…

Bee’s Knees, Clover Club, Old Fashioned… all classic cocktails that inspired the flavors of our hard kombuchas. Now, the Old Fashioned is a special guy. It's one of the oldest classic cocktails, dating back to at least 1806 when the recipe was written down for the first time in its simplest form - spirit (rye whiskey), a little sugar, a little water, and bitters. At this time, it was called the Whiskey Cocktail.

Decades passed, and starting around the 1870s mixologists began creating updated versions of the Whiskey Cocktail - playing with maraschino liqueur, muddled citrus fruits, splashes of absinthe, and other concoctions. Can we blame them? All of a sudden they had so many different types of alcohol at their disposal to experiment with - fun! But, those who were familiar with the original, simplified Whiskey Cocktail were outraged by these fruity changes….

Monday, 2/21, was World Kombucha Day and we thought what better time to share a conversation from our brewer and founder on kombucha!

Picture this: It’s 2002, grocery store isles don’t even have a kombucha section and the closest thing to a health drink is a Diet Coke.. The word kombucha has hardly touched the lips of a fraction of Americans.
